INTRODUCTION

The Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc. operates the sunsmart.org.nz website under license from Te Hiringa Hauora | The Health Promotion Agency.

The Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc. is part of a federation of registered Cancer Society charities across Aotearoa New Zealand. We reserve the right to share any information collected through sunsmart.org.nz with other entities within the Cancer Society federation.

This page explains how the Cancer Society of New Zealand collects, stores, uses and shares information collected through the sunsmart.org.nz website. If you have any questions, there are contact details at the bottom of the page.

WHAT WE COLLECT

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal Information is only collected if you choose to provide it and where it is necessary to carry out our functions. On sunsmart.org.nz personal information is collected via the SunSmart schools’ registration process and the early childhood education module, which are detailed below. No other personal information is collected.

OTHER INFORMATION

The Cancer Society collects statistical information about your visit to our websites to help us understand how the sunsmart.org.nz website is being used, and to gain insights into how we can improve it. This includes via the use of cookies. Usage information is collected via and stored in Google Analytics and includes:

  • IP addresses
  • Operating system and browser information
  • Details of search engine and search terms used to arrive on the sunsmart.org.nz website
  • Date, time, and length of your visit to the sunsmart.org.nz website
  • Your geographic location (down to city level)
  • Which pages you visit on the sunsmart.org.nz website
  • Other incidental matters such as screen resolution and the language setting of your browser

This information may be shared in an aggregated and anonymised fashion with Te Hiringa Hauora.

SUNSMART SCHOOLS

During registration for the SunSmart Schools programme, we collect personal information so that we can contact your school. This information is kept securely and only accessed by members of Cancer Society New Zealand staff and their agents who require it operationally. This information includes:

  • The name of a contact person
  • The physical address of the school
  • The contact information for the contact person
  • Correspondence with the school / contact person

We will use this information for the purposes listed in the registration form, which include:

  • To process your SunSmart Schools’ application
  • To provide you with SunSmart Schools resources, and other relevant communications
  • To provide you with information about the Cancer Society, including fundraising and health promotion initiatives such as Daffodil Day

ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ECE STAFF

During registration for the Online Professional Development for ECE Staff programme we collect information about participants and their employers. This information is kept securely and only accessed by members of Cancer Society New Zealand staff and their agents who require it operationally. This information includes:

  • The name and contact details of the participant
  • The role of the participant
  • The name, city and region of their ECE service

We will use this information for the purposes listed in the registration form, which include:

  • To provide you with your ECE accreditation certificate on completion of the programme
  • To collect data on the use of the programme

ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CORRECTION

You can ask us for access to, or correction of your personal information at any time. Use the contact details at the end of this notice.

Please notify us of any changes to your personal information as soon as possible so we can ensure your personal information is accurate and current.
